A temporary jacking point welded on to the bow.
Yesterday Dave Thomas and his team spent time preparing Caxton for the CUT. A hole was cut in Caxton's well deck to access the spray foam underneath and scrape it away. This morning I was given a call and told to turn up at 11am to witness the deed.
The cut is chalked in
Slit hole cut in the well deck to access below deck spray foam and cut through the base plate.
Barry starts the burn. 3200 degrees centigrade OA torch. The burn to each side took about 10-15 minutes.
Time to part - a couple of crow bars and the bow section parts company with the rest of Caxton.
Joe pulls the bow away..
Ouch!

Thank you Sue. Too late to change our minds now!!!
Lesley
Caxton has no nose.
How does she smell?
Terrible.
(Sorry!!!)
Is this what I have to look forward to!!!!!!!!
wow! how much extra footage are you having inserted?
MR, how could you?
Lesley
Hi Paul and Lynne
Indeed it is!!
Lesley
Hi Amy
Another five foot taking our well deck to nine feet.
Lesley
I think that Indigo Dream's front deck isn't far off that - we call it our drinking deck - what's yours to be called? :-)
Sue
Beautifully recorded. In my naivety I'd assumed the boat would have been cut across the middle. Of course, cutting at the bow makes much more sense if you don't need extra cabin accommodation.
I look forward to seeing how it develops.
Cant do that with a fibreglass boat :-)
Great photos, but it's painful to see.... Poor Caxton.... looks so unnatural being craned out of the water, but having it's nose cut off... well, that's just cruel!

I guess you would have to be half-cut watching that cut at the side of the 'Cut'.
That's meant as an encouraging as opposed to a cutting remark!

Oh Lesley - poor Caxton!!!!! It nearly made me cry just looking at the photos!! Still, I'm sure she'll be looking good as new, and longer, in no time at all!!!
Windsong dinette almost finished so moving back on within the next week or two.

Hi Sue
The new extension hasn't been 'named' yet but we aim to recline here in comfortable chairs with a chilled glass of vino to hand so maybe the 'drinking deck' fits the bill for Caxton as well?
Lesley
Hi adrian
Like Pinocchio, Caxton's nose is about to grow!
Lesley
Thank you Eric!!
Pip
I am sure Caxton will look all the better and more balanced for this extra five feet plus we will have a 'patio' to slob in..
