Gone for a Burton

We set off sharp at 8.30 this morning with the aim of getting through Burton-on-Trent and moored up close to Branston Water Park (Branston as in the pickle) where we could stay for a couple of days. The journey took two and a half hours and we are moored close to Bridge 34, Branston Bridge and therefore also close to the Bridge Inn! Lunch for Caxton's crew was a freshly made spinach and olive pizza in The Bridge, which boasts an Italian menu, and a pint of Pedigree bitter. Graham and Jill of Nb. Matilda Rose were expecting a family visit so this location was easily accessible for their visitors as well as meeting the needs of the dogs etc.

Below, passing through Burton past the extensive brewery warehouses.

Moored up just along from us this afternoon is Lisa and Terry on Nb Sandon, The Ice Cream Boat. They are selling jams and preserves, sweets and hotdogs at this time of year so tomorrow Joe and I will amble over to them and purchase some of the wares.

They have been earning their living like this for the past six years - all the best to them.
