And the sun shone

We stayed Thursday and Friday night at The Vale which is alongside the Campus of the Birmingham University. Ok, there was a little noise from exuberant yoofs  for a short time around midnight but nothing very much.  Friday was glorious, a springlke day with catkins beginning to emerge, crocus's and snowdrops in abundance and a real warmth in the Sun.  We got all our logs cut up and the timber from Caxton's  dismantled staircase, emptied the well deck, tidied the hold and put everything back in a shipshape fashion.

Glad the moorings were ok, we were going to moor there a few years ago but changed our minds as we were on our own and had a few doubts, good to know they are ok!

Cupboards all sorted? What will you do with all that extra space? Caxton looks gorgeous.

Following much blog discussion about the merits or otherwise of a semi trad stern I saw this photo of yours.

How comfortable is it to sit there? Do you use this seating all the time??

Thanks,
Elly

The moorings at The Vale are used quite frequently by the long term moorers in Gas Street Basin as a weekend BBQ spot...no problems reported and we were fine during our stay.

Fill it dear Amanda, fill it!
Do you recognise the 'refrain' of an old song by any chance or am I just showing my age?
Caxton blushingly says 'thank you'..

Hi Elly and Mick
We rarely use the seating but there are many boaters that do so don't be guided by us. Our next boat will be a trad rather than a semi-trad because I tend to walk the dogs along the tow paths and Joe is alone on the boat. Our original thinking was that a semi-trad would provide us with space for Joe and myself and the two Labs on the rear deck but that is not what has transpired. The dogs don't like being on the back because of the engine noise/vibration and the seats are too small for them to sit on comfortably so they stay in the boat when on board.
