Shame on You

Chairman Loughborough Council
Dear Sir
As a visitor to your town, on Saturday I had a lovely time wandering the streets of Loughborough, enjoying the variety of fine architecture, the vibrancy of the town centre, the obvious civic pride in the park with the War Memorial and Carillon. Yesterday we took our narrowboat into the new British Waterways (BW) basin and visited the town again; lovely. However, I decided to walk my two dogs back along the towing path, heading south, through the town on our return to our rural mooring. Things take on a different hue here and shame on you! The whole length of the 'town' towpath is nothing but a depository for dog excrement. ONE bin, only ONE bin is provided for the collection of dog excrement. This is an area of your town used by LOCAL people to walk their dogs. LOCAL children, joggers and cyclists use this facility extensively. It was disgustingly filthy and unhealthy. It cannot be the sole responsibility of BW to clean up after the inhabitants of Loughborough.
Dog walkers will only change their lazy behaviour if the local authority provides the right encouragement, that is, the means to clean up after their pets. This sadly is an area that is really letting Loughborough down, perhaps the local Councillors should take a walk along the towpath:mind where you step though...

Well said. It is time someone drew the councillors attention to what is a local responsibility.
