Plan C: Win or Loo

We slipped our mooring at 8.20 this morning and headed off towards Brinklow Marina, arriving at 11.10. Joe did a rather fluent pirouette and backed onto our mooring without any colliding with neighbouring boats or crashing into pontoons! We were given a cheery welcome back by a number of fellow boaters - thank you one and all. Then while I walked the dogs, Joe recovered our car and after lunch we all headed off to Lee Sanitation to buy parts for Plan C modifications to the 'exploding loo' . Actually it hasn't exploded lately but it sounds more dramatic. Anyway
I think we have identified the niggle and all will be soon resolved.

Hi Lesley,
Dont know what your problem is with your loo, we had a 'Vacuflush' loo fitted to our boat and soon after experienced 'an exploding loo'possbly same as yourselves, turned out it was the bowl seal which had got damaged, after replacing same (£25 lighter wallet)all was solved. We now have a problem with one of our cassettes which is leaking air causing the pump to 'kick in' every three or four minutes, I know these loo's are relatively new, but I hope they are not going to be problematic as a new casstte costs £160.
Regards
Kev & Ann (4evermoore)

Thanks,, btw, I have a copy of Canal Boat and am reading feverishly all about your wonderful boat. I see you opted for a Hurricane heating generator...is it good? any probs?

Hi Lesley, will you be staying at Brinklow for a while? We'll be heading past that way in a couple of weeks time (we pick the boat up on March 6). Would be great to catch up over a cuppa. Adrian

Hi Kev
The vacuflush has been slightly 're-plumbed' and now we think the problem is resolved. The feed pipe from the loo sloped gently up to a 90dg joint as it entered the cassette. We have been advised to remove the gentle slope and run the pipe to the cassette along the floor and into another 90dg joint before running it up perpendicularly to the entry point of the cassette. Our cassettes cost £75 by the way, not £160. We have replaced o rings as well.

I really don't know where we are likely to be in early March - give me a call and if we are close I am sure we can find a way to meet up!
