Historic boats and a turn at the tiller

Here we are moored up at Little Seabrook on Monday evening. We had serviced the boat at Marsworth and bought a bottle of gas from Grebe Canal Cruises at Pitstone Wharf 18.99 for 6kg so either the price has suddenly been hiked or somebody is taking of the Michael!
Joe had settled down to dangle a worm in the water, I had transplanted our salad seedlings into larger trays and then wandered off to paint in the lovely sunshine.
In the early evening just as I was starting to cook a meal we were passed by SNB President and butty Kildare so we went up to the lock armed with windlasses and helped lock them through.  They were heading down to London for the IWA 'do' at Little Venice.

The next day as we are enroute for Leighton Buzzard we passed another pair of historic working boats heading for London.

I took this as I was at the helm!  I don't normally have anything to do with the Caxton's propulsion but I did 40 minutes before Joe decided I looked too uncomfortable holding the tiller behind me with my hands between my shoulder blades!   Being a bit on the short side and Joe insisting that I don't stand on the side counter to steer it was the only way - perhaps a step will help?

This chap has taken up residence, along with his lady, just by Stoke Hammond.

I'm sorry, did I read that correctly? Lesley at the tiller? Are you feeling alright, dear?

Hi Greygal
I really DO feel that I should be competent at handling Caxton and guilty that I have avoided the task but walking the dogs and working the locks hold greater attractions.
You can give me a lesson when we meet on the Gt Ouse?
Lesley
