Eees up and running

Joe has just downloaded his first e-book from Amazon!  I went into the City today to Blacks store and bought two Kindle readers and appropriate covers for them and managed a small discount of £10 - it is always worth asking, so I do!

Hi from an Aussie follower...

Father Christmas got me a Kindle for Christmas (and I hear he also got one for Diane - soon to be cruising on Gypsy Rover). I think he figured there wouldn't be much space on a narrowboat for book hoarders. Maybe a bit premature for me seeing it'll be a good couple of years til we have a narrowboat but plenty of time to practice then.

I love my Kindle, even though we don't have access in Australia to as many books. Best Christmas present!

Hope you enjoy yours too.
Cheers,
Elly from Oz

Dear Lesley
welcome to the kindle community, they are brilliant I have had mine since July, never leave home without it.
However if the cover you bought is the Amazon unlit leather one don't throw the box away they can cause the kindle to keep resetting itself. I retuned mine for a full refund and got a different one

Hi I'm another keen Kindle fan although I have always loved real books. you may be interested in downloading audible books too. We bought a gismo that goes into a tape player and into the headphones outlet on the Kindle and plays the audible books really well. We use it for long car journeys it make the miles go really quickly
Cheers

Hi Ian
We bought the 'lit' covers so I hope we don't have a problem because the boxes are long gone..

Hi Andy
Joe is enjoying using the Kindle, still playing with settings, e-mails whatever. We sorted the book shelves out on Sunday, a pile for charity, a pile for NB. Matilda Rose and pile for me to finish reading. When I complete my 'book' reading I get to switch on MY KINDLE..

Hello Elly
Delighted that you endorse the Kindle I makes my decision to spend Soooo much more acceptable. We know Derek and Dot of Gyspy Rover - DOT hasn't yet recovered from the decision to sell!
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Ali
We don't do car journeys anymore, well very rarely, but we have a car radio on board so there might be some sense in getting this gizmo for Caxton, thank you.

I'm interested about the battery life of the Kindle if you use it to listen to audio books (Ali - nb Tormentil?) I charged my Kindle the week before Christmas when it arrived and I'm now on my 4th book without charging it again. I'm very impressed!

You can "share" books with friends too - you have to temporarily add their Kindle to your Amazon account. They download the books they want from your account and then you take their Kindle off your account. I wouldn't suggest doing this unless you trust the person - they could order things using your credit card!

Enjoy your Kindles!
