The second one looks like the kettle we bought in September for Briar Rose (after the handle fell off the kettle like your Caxton one). Ours is black. It's fine, and seems very sturdy. When we were looking for kettles we saw the top one, but thought the base was a bit big for our hob.
Hi Adam I would like to see and handle the kettles before buying, the downside with internet shopping. I will have to measure our current one and compare.. X Lesley
Hi Lesley, don't know about the second one, but we have the top one, it has a rather large base, but fits on our 3 burner ok, but, we have only used it this summer and the finish has scratched around the lid, to be honest I am disappointed with it, for the cost!

Top one looks like better handle and funky mechanism to open spout!
