Some of you will recall that I recently managed to drown my compact digital camera. Some of you may recall that the previous compact digital camera also met a watery fate when it fell out of my pocket and into the canal... So, I was on the hunt for a replacement because my digital SLR doesn't appreciate being slapped about by lock gates when it is hanging around my neck.
Martin, of NB Quantum Leap has a Panasonic Lumix FZ38 and I was much taken with this camera. It is a 'bridge' between the compact and the full SLR. Lightweight and highly functional with a great optical zoom lens.
The 'Bridge' FZ38
Sorely tempted I had a look at one in Jessops in Stratford but though I was really impressed I opted for a pocket size again and bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8. The convenience of having a camera that does fit in a pocket was just too practical to ignore.
The practical TZ8, my camera of choice.

Good choice. I've got a TZ6, which I've had for a couple of years now, and it's great.
Hi Adam
My previous compact was a Panasonic Lumix as well - good cameras and excellent Leica lenses!
