Adderley, Adderley

We pulled pins late morning on Friday and slipped under the town/Talbot bridge to the service point where we did the usual and then headed off in the sunshine to the flight of locks at Adderley.  Jill of Nb Matilda Rose joined us for a walk and a bit of lock wheeling before she returned to Market Drayton where they are staying until early next week.  It was a fantastic sunny spring day, the kind of day that just slaps a big fat grin on your face!  We saw a number of buzzards soaring on the thermals and then swooping across patches of woodland/field margins and Floyd and Muttley spotted a number of wabbits but fortunately the sheep fencing kept the the chase and despatch instinct in check.

This flight of five locks at Adderley is delightful

Half way down the flight there is an adjacent farm and  they have placed a stand by the lock selling free range eggs, homemade cakes and advertising their range of fine sausages.  Jill had moved on the pre the next lock so another lockwheeler joined me (above).  As a member of the local community that is heavily involved in the egg enterprise she was just checking that I had spotted the goods for sale.  I explained that I had just bought a dozen free range eggs but I would be back on Sunday to purchase some of her eggs - at which she tootled back through the hedge and rejoined her confederates.

We have moored at the bottom of the Adderley flight and will stay here the weekend, dropping down into Audlem on Monday.
